Letter mid-week, after the floods

Imagine my surprise on Wednesday evening, when I checked my email to find a letter from Elder Spencer Call!! He hadn't emailed on his typical day, Monday, due to the horrific flooding that had occurred in Calgary Canada. We weren't sure when we would hear from him next. Thankfully, he had interviews with the Mission President on Wednesday and his mission President encouraged him (and probably other missionaries who hadn't been able to email on Monday) to contact their family. How tremendously thankful I am for that sweet tender mercy of hearing from him!!

Dear Family,
The computers were down so I wasn't able to email on Monday. but I am doing interviews with President today and he is letting us email to say that we are all alive! I'm doing well! I don't have much time, but the work here is going well! I was able to teach a few investigator lessons and it was great!! I still need a lot of work and help in a lot of areas of missionary work. Boy, its hard work! But it is very rewarding. I hope all is going well back home! I love you all so much.

I will certainly email some stories and more of that other good missionary stuff on Monday! Hopefully the internet is working. I was not affected by the flood at all. But we are going to help downtown which is practically underwater, so we'll see how that goes! I'm pretty excited. It will bring up some good missionary opportunities!

Thanks for all the help and support that you have given me. I loved your letters. {he is talking about letters we mailed to him via snail mail} They had a little water damage-I'm guessing from the flooding - but I still loved them all! They made my day! So thank you very much. Missionary work is crazy, let me tell ya! Please watch the New Mission President Seminar. It should be on lds.org. Its great. The missionaries in St George need your help. Please please please look for missionary opportunities. The Lord will bless you so much as you do so! I love you so much! I'll email you more on Monday. Oh, and yes! That missionary who was talking to Madi {Harrison**} was me! How crazy is that?! Haha, I love you all! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Call
oh and tell those girls thanks for stopping by! They are awesome! {some of his sweet friends stopped by on Sunday to say hi! I quickly snapped a photo of them and sent it on to Spenc! He was so happy to see them!!}

{**And here's the story on him being the missionary talking to Madi Harrison (a sweet friend of his from high school): Sometime before Spencer left on his mission he was on an online lds chat with missionaries from the MTC who were available to answer questions,etc. The only deal is that both people are not allowed to tell their names - only ask / answer questions. Anyway, I guess Spencer told this missionary that he was leaving on Graduation Day, that he went to SCHS and was from Southern Utah. Apparently the "missionary" answering your questions and chatting with you was Madi Harrison!!!! She said she was DYING to tell you that she knew it was you - because it was well known that you were leaving on Graduation Day!  I thought that was so cool!!  So I sent this to Spencer, and he replied saying that YES indeed, it was him talking (unbeknownst to him) to Madi Harrison!} {who he took to Jr Prom one year and was in the MTC at the time preparing to serve her mission!!}

I am certain that he will have a lot of stories about he flood and his role in helping the people in Canada. He said he would email on Monday, only Monday is Canada Day - the libraries are closed that day, so possibly we will hear from him on Tuesday.

It was such a pure delight to get his email and hear that he is doing good. Just something about us moms' that want to know how they are!! :)
