We just got a letter! We just got a letter!

***I woke up Erin this morning singing to her...."We just got a letter, we just got a letter, we just got a letter.....wonder who it's from??!!!" Anyone? Anyone? Ha, Blue's Clues. To say that we were excited to get a letter/email, is an understatement. It's starting to feel like Christmas - weekly!!!*** xoxoxoxo Amy

Saturday June 1st
Dear Family,

Excuse me if I don't answer all your questions, you ask a lot haha! Anyways, the MTC is great. Time has flown by so quickly. And I looove it! It is so fun. Work hard at the hard work and be obedient. <---KEY TO SUCCESS! So, pretty much I have the greatest district in the history of the world. I don't have a picture of all of us yet, but I'll get one today. Sorry I didn't send any pictures last week. I totally forgot!! Ok, ok, ok. Story time.

So me and my companion invited our district to come ride the elevator with us. It was me, my companion Elder M, Elder L, Elder W, Sister D, Sister H, Sister C, and Sister B. So, I had the brilliant idea for all of us to jump. So I yell out, "1, 2, 3, JUMP!" The elevator stops. The next thing I hear is the elevator saying, "we are experiencing technical difficulties, please do not force the door open." Immediately my companion goes over and tries to force the door open. He definitely heard it wrong haha! We all yell at him to stop. We said a prayer. It was really quite funny. We talked to some security people through the elevator telephone thing. It was pretty fantastic, especially knowing it was all my fault. After 35 minutes one of the Elders just clicked the open door button and it opens. Yeah. Outside the door was a security guy who needed my name because it was my brilliant idea to jump. It was great! When I got back to the room I walked in and there was a brother talking with Elder W. Elder W said he needed to talk to me about the elevator experience. I just spilled the beans. Then Elder W said he was kidding and this was just a good family friend who worked at the MTC. Ha! What a night.

We do a lot of role-play here and also a lot of teaching with investigators. Each companionship has there own investigator (who is just a teacher). It is really a spiritual experience. One time we were teaching Linda (our investigator) and the Spirit was so strong. Elder M, Linda, and I were all crying. It was really great to see Linda change from being this sad, angry old lady to someone very happy and excited about the gospel. Even though it isn't real, it felt so real. I am so excited to get out in the field and do the real deal! My companion challenged her to be baptized and she said yes!! Woohooooo!! It was grand.

Yes, I do leave on Tuesday. My flight is at 11 and I go straight from Salt Lake to Calgary. I'll buy an call-card thingy so I can give you all a call! So be ready at about 10 :)  {no worries, we sent him both a calling card (thanks Lex!) and quarters (thanks Lisa!) so he could call for sure!!}

The MTC is amazing. So, so amazing. The gospel really does bring people together. I've only known the Elders and Sisters in my district for a week and a half, but I feel like I've known them so much longer. I feel that is the same for our family. The gospel has brought us so close. When we truly live it and learn about it together that is when our family is closest. I would invite you all to continue reading the scriptures. That makes me so happy that you are all doing that!! I am so proud to have such an amazing family. One of the sisters commented that she wants a son just like me that will talk about his mom the way I do. :) Is it alright to brag about your family? Haha, you are all so wonderful. Thank you for the letters and the packages. And Elder M loved his package as well!! {Alexa got a package ready and mailed it to Spencer's companion. Since he is an Idaho farmer boy, she mailed him beef jerky and potato chips and told him that this was the closest thing she could get to Idaho meat & potatoes. Haha!!} He actually really needed that, so thanks!! Your notes and letters make my day! I love you all so so much!

Oh, and dear friends,
Thanks so much for the letters, they mean so much! The church is true! Live the gospel. Study the gospel. SHARE the gospel. Big emphasis on share. Please, please share it. It is the best thing ever!!
God loves you all so much. Christ is our Savior and through Him we can make it back. The church is true!! SHARE IT!! :D

Love,
Elder Call
p.s. I'm so sorry! The camera is not working with this computer. I will send you an email with pictures when I get to Canada. I love you all!!!!!! The church is true!!!!

{I pretty much begged him to send photos...at least he tried!! I'm pretty sure that their time is soooooo super limited at the MTC! I'm sure he will have more time to figure out sending pictures once he gets to Canada!! I can't even begin to explain the pure joy it is to receive a letter from your missionary son!! It is like Christmas morning every single week!! And since he didn't send a photo, I've attached one that reminds me so much of him! Sure love you Elder Call!!}
