Tender mercies

This is the third Monday that we haven't heard from Elder Call (although one Wednesday we did receive a quick 2 minute email letting us know he was fine and busy with the flood clean up efforts.
I got home from Girls Camp today and one of the first things I did was check to see if I got an email from him. {which is amazing since I hadn't had a shower or washed my hair since Tuesday....4 days ago!!} He's that important!! :) Instead of receiving an email from him, I did receive the following from my fellow missionary mom in Canada. Here it goes {have tissues handy!}

Amy,

I know that you are getting back from Girl’s camp today. I hope you had an amazing time. I wanted you to have this email when you arrived back home. Just a little something to brighten your day.

I was out volunteering again in High River on Tuesday and as “luck” would have it I ran into your son with his zone. They were around the corner from where we had been working all day. We came into the area another way at the beginning of the day but because of a couple of big trucks that were working at the end of the street we had to go home another way. As we turned the corner, I saw a bunch of yellow t-shirts and recognized the group of missionaries. I stopped to take another picture and to share with them the messages that had been sent by their families. They were so excited to hear a little something from home. When your son heard that I had emails from families on my phone tears started running down his face. I had to look away for a moment so that I wouldn’t start bawling myself.  He was so overcome knowing that there was something from his mom! I wish I could have given him a great big hug, but another Elder (Elder Short) seeing the need for a hug stepped right in and gave your son a great big hug! It was a tender moment. I told Elder Call that you and I emailed back and forth all day and he said: “ That would be my MOM!” You could just see the love he has for you and for his whole family. Your family has a special place in my heart from this whole experience.

The missionaries also told me that they prayed again for a food truck to come by and this time a guy showed up with a bunch of hot pizzas! I thought that so funny! We worked around the corner from this group all day and I never saw a food truck come by once! These missionaries were watched over once again.

I told the missionaries that I would email a message from them if they wanted to write it on a piece of paper for me. I also took a single photo of each missionary to send to their families.

Here is the note that your son wrote:

Family!!! I love you so much!!  Aaah!  I ripped a hole in my pants today, Great right? I wish I could tell ya more of what is going on! But most importantly I love you all so much!! The Church is true!

Love,

Elder Call

 Group shot!

Elder Call – two thumbs up!
{this is SO Spencer!}

Reading the emails you sent to me. He had tears in his eyes as he read them.

 There were a couple of emails that were not on my phone- I had moved them into a missionary folder on my computer. I drove home and met the missionaries back at the church in Okotoks when we were all done our work day. I printed off the emails for the other missionaries and felt like I needed to print off the ones from you too. When I handed them to your son, he head tears in his eyes again. I gave him a pat on the shoulder and told him that I really felt like I should print them off for him to read. I knew that he just needed something from his mom.  I know that my son loves having things to read from us at night- he reads our letters over and over.

I hope you have a great weekend. It has been so fun being a messenger for these missionaries who love their families so much!

Love,
Tamara

{Do you have a best friend that you've never met in another country, but feel like you've know her forever??! That's how I feel about Tamara! What an angel mother to my son. Words don't describe enough my joy because of you. Thank you for being an answer to prayer and for loving my son! Much thanks to our Heavenly Father for His tender mercies!}
