March Madness!

Coaldale Canada
District Leader
Elder Pauli - companion

{this first part is part of the letter that I sent to Spencer this week}
So Jake Sargent gave a talk today on Family History. Anyway, he was talking about how important it is to do family history and how there are those who have passed away who are waiting for the opportunity to be baptized and how thankful they will be to each of us for doing their work for them, and then he stated, "Doing family history work in this life will greatly improve your social life in the next life." It was awesome! Such a profoud statement! And yes, it made us laugh quietly, because it was so true!!  And the other week when we were doing baptisms, the temple worker stated about the same thing when he said, "As you do work in the temple for those who have passed along, you are building your own fan club!" (meaning how many people are going to hug and thank us for helping them along in their own salvation).

{and now from Spencer....}
Haha, sounds like Jake gave a pretty good talk. And that is a pretty great line he used! I definitely want some people to talk to when I pass on!! And a fan club would be nice as well. I'm sure it will be an incredible experience when we go onto the next life. I can't even comprehend just how important these things are! So keep doing the work and taking our family names to the Temple. Tell Erin and Grace to keep going as regularly as possible-it will provide them with such spiritual strength. And tell Zac one of the first things I do when I get back (once he turns 12) is going to be to take him to the Temple.

Haha, and glad you enjoyed the Wednesday email last week. No worries, that will definitely not be a regular thing!
Ok questions...
How are things going in Coaldale?
Faaaaantaastic! :)
How's Elder Pauli doing? Best thing about him this week?
He's doing good as well. Its been good to have him as a companion. I'm learning a lot and we are finding things to do, so I am happy!
How's K doing?? Is he who you are helping make the Pinewood Derby car?  How's that going?
K is doing well. Normally Sister B (K's mom) sits in, but she hasn't when we have taught K. I think we will invite her to listen as we are teaching the Plan of Salvation this week. Should be good. And yes we made pinewood derby cars with him this week! It was sweet!! The race is this Saturday, so we will see how that goes!

One of your best parts of the past week??
TBA :)
It has been a super good week. I'll have a lot to say in the Big Kahuna today! It was a way fun week and we saw miracles! I'm learning more each day and starting to understand more of how important the gospel is. I thank you and dad for helping me along the way and for helping me to understand the gospel. There is a reason that I was put in this family. I am grateful that you accepted the gospel and followed the Savior's example and were baptized. I'm so happy that God prepared the way for you to receive it. And thank you for sharing that light with me and helping me to get out here on a mission. I love you so much!
Love,
Elder Call
p.s. I think I may have left my camera at the library. So I don't have pictures at the moment. Sorry!
{lookie there, he borrowed Elder Paulis camera and sent some photos after all!!}
His letter to the world is below the photos...
Elder Call!! {who really doesn't have reddish hair! haha!}
 The BIG NEWS is that Spencer is writing in his journal! haha!

I saw Spencer in the photo and copied it!

 His first area was Panaroma Ward - northern Calgary.
His second area is Coaldale Canada.
{south of Calgary, east of Lethbridge}

Oh boy! This week was great. I feel like a little kid early Christmas morning, so excited that he can't even sleep, so he goes into the bathroom and plays checkers with his little sister!! {yes, Erin and Spencer did that one Christmas at 4am!!} Yes, so excited!!
So... Coaldale....
This week we got to build Kub Kars (thats the Canadian way of saying Pinewood Derby cars) with K. It was super fun! We went to a members garage and got to play with all the power tools and stuff! I'm beginning to understand how awesome my dad is, because he builds some pretty sweet cars. He makes it look so easy!!

Anywho, we also got to talk with him about reading the scriptures and saying prayers every day. We also taught him about the Restoration of the Gospel. It was really great! He agreed to read from the Book of Mormon. He has already started to read it, which is way exciting! He is really taking interest in these things, which is awesome! Him and his mom came to church this week. They just came for Sacrament Meeting and then they had to leave, but it was great to have them there.

Oh, have I told you about M? So she is the one who is friends with a less active in the ward. She has took some interest in religion and wanted to know more about ours. So T(the less active) set up a time for us to come over to visit and teach her! So, this week we were able to teach her about the Restoration. M is so prepared. She told us that she lost her mom at 19, and then last year she lost her brother. She has had a lot of rough times inbetween those events and really is searching for help. As we taught her she said it was like a weight was lifted off her shoulders. I felt so blessed. Heavenly Father trusted me to help her prepare for Eternal Life. It was amazing to testify to her that her family could be together forever and that the gospel had been restored. She accepted to be baptized March 22. She also came to church this week and really enjoyed it. She is so ready to receive the gospel. Its amazing how God is preparing people to receive it. She asked why bad things had happened to her. And I learned that sometimes bad things happen to us so God can show us the right way. All of Marla's experiences in life led her to search for the true gospel. Our bad experiences in life too can lead us to find the truth. How amazing is Heavenly Father's plan for us?
This week we also got to see 3 less actives come to church who normally don't come. It was great!! Its been so amazing to see miracles happening in Coaldale.

Hm... I'm gonna borrow Elder Pauli's camera and send some pictures (I think I left mine in the Coaldale Library, woops!). You guys should probably know what he looks like. Oh, and last week I think I said he was Tongan but he's actually Tongan, Hawaiian, White and Samoan. Crazy right? Well I'll send some pics.
But its been great! I also learned this week that following God's commandments helps us. This week I was lazy. I slept in til about 7 every morning and just ditched working out. But you know what? Throughout the day I found that I was more tired. That doesn't even make sense does it? Getting more sleep equals more tired?? Well, so I learned that as we follow God's commandments for us, even if it is just waking up at 6:30, that He keeps His promises. So my advice for all of you is to wake up at 6:30 and you won't be as tired. In other words follow God's commandments and you'll get the blessings!
The Church is true!
Love,
Elder Call
