*message from me (mom) - this morning I was up bright and early, with good cause! There was a birthday letter from my missionary that I received last week that said, "do not open until June 10th!" I was very obedient....but you better believe that's the first thing I went for this morning when I woke up! I sure love that kid!
{the past few months I've been telling him how bad soda is for your body and your teeth - caffeinated and non-caffeinated.......even though you think they are not listening, apparently they are! :)}
Then a few hours later, we received our email for the week! Yay! He sounds FABULOUS! And he answered all the questions that I sent!! Here it goes...
Dear Family,
So to start off, I'm pretty sure, in fact I'm positive, that the Lord is helping me out here. Let me explain. We get fed by the members a lot! And they always like feeding us desserts. And those desserts always have chocolate. Ah! I've been offered chocolate desserts 3 times (chocolate peanut butter bar thingys, chocolate vanilla ice cream cone, and brownies). And I've consumed all three of them and survived! What a miracle!! So, no one here knows that I dislike chocolate and sweets, my companion included. So we'll see how long I can keep this up! {anyone who knows Spencer knows this is a HUGE deal!!!}
Thank you for the spiritual thought, I loved it! Now I just need to get my scriptures and look those up, because I don't have them with me haha! But thank you!
Speaking of those Russian Elders we are going to do that too! {I wrote and told him about a couple missionaries in Russia who decided to use chalk art to share their message of Christ} Finding people out here to teach is pretty hard. There are a lot of rich people. But never fear, I'm still doing pretty well! :) We've been tracting two or three times now and no one has really listened to us yet. We are trying to get more refferals from members of our ward, and its been going pretty well! Please give the missionaries in St. George refferals! Refferals are the best! We have three investigators right now that we are trying to work with. It is hard to get appointments! You forget that everyone else has a life haha! But even though its hard I am loving it. Yes, there are bad times, rough moments, hard days, but its good! Its fun! The Lord has a way with making the hard things fun. So I am loving it.
In response to your questions: {yes, I did ask all these questions...once a mom, always a mom!!!}
How are you doing? (can't be a one word answer!!!)
Good... I mean... super good!
How do you get along with your companion?
Really good! He's a cool guy. Did I tell you that he had been praying for a companion that knew how to play golf and played basketball?? Haha, that's me!
Where is your companion from?
I got another farmer from Idaho, haha!
Did you eat dinner at members houses at all this week?
Yup. We pretty much get fed every single night. It's great!
Do you have enough food? (yes mom's still worry!!)
Haha, I think the real question should be: are you going to need new pants by the end of this month? Because I'm probably going to start packing on the pounds. {haha!}
Is there ANYTHING you are in need of?
Bacon. I haven't had any bacon yet. {sorry, you're going to have to buy that yourself!!!}
Did you find your finger nail clippers? :) (they should be in your bathroom bag OR in the "extra bathroom zip loc bag" that is in a pocket of your BIG suitcase) {last letter, he asked where they were at!}
Yes, I have found the nail clippers! Which is good because I used my companions at the MTC haha!

And I'm still trying to figure out these silly library computers. They have a floppy disk drive (who uses floppy disks?) but the usb ports don't exactly function like a typical computer. Silly library. So I'll try to send some pictures by the time my email time is up.
{sadly, no pictures....but I did email him and tell him to ask his companion or the nice ladies at the library how to do it....cause this mama wants pictures!}
What a complete JOY it is to hear from him!! Marvelous Monday is what I'm calling it for the next 2 years!!! We all love him SO much! He also took time to personally answer Jeremy, Alexa, Erin, Grace, & Zac! What a stud! He sends the big email to either me or Jeremy and we just pass it along to the family. I sure am proud of him {what mom wouldn't be??!} and LOVE him beyond measure!! Keep up the good work Elder Call, we're behind you 110%!
