Two birthdays in a row

Monday September 23, 2013
Dear World,
Missionary work is pretty much fantastic. Let me explain...
So if you took a look at our numbers for this week it looks pretty terrible. We only taught three lessons. I think everything we had planned cancelled on us. We worked hard, tried our best, and guess what? The Lord blessed us. Pretty much that is how it works. If we work hard and effectively Heavenly Father notices that. Let me go a little further...
End of the week, right? So we counted up our numbers, when the phone rings. There is a set of missionaries that says there is a guy in our area who wants to be baptized... Whoa! It was pretty crazy! So we are meeting with him on Saturday. I'm just so excited! Missionary work is amazing, and the Lord really does bless us for being obedient and for working hard.
We weren't able to get in with any of our current investigators this week, but we did get to visit the guy who wants to be baptized, R is his name, and we have another investigator named D. So it was pretty great! We are also trying to work with a guy named T, who is really excited to learn more. So things are going really great.
So I had two birthdays in a row this weekend! My mission birthday {4 months!!}, and my actual birthday! It was great! Thank you to all those who made my birthday a great one!! It was a pretty great day. Most birthdays I count up my money and see what cool things I got, but this year was a little different. The things I was most excited about were the letters! I was so happy to read through all the letters. It was great. I felt like my family and friends were all there. It was a pretty great birthday!!
So the work is going great. Things are fun, getting a little chilly (6 degrees celcius was the coolest I saw it this week), but it is good! The Spirit is really such a great tool in the work. So, Elder Smith and I walk up to a door (we went there because he had an I Love Jesus bumper sticker) and we talk to this guy named R. We talk to him for a bit, but he says he isn't interested because he is already Christian and there are others who we could help. I asked if he knew any non-christians but he said he didn't. I then felt I should talk about the Book of Mormon. So, I just went for it. We ended up giving him one, and we asked if we could come back and talk with him about it, and he said yes. It was pretty crazy. So, moral of the story: Follow the promptings of the Spirit.
Good week this week! The Church is true. God loves us. The Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith is a prophet. The Lord is so willing to bless us if we follow Him.
The Gospel is great!
Love,
Elder Call
