General Conference Weekend

Serving in Coaldale Canada with Elder Pauli

Dear Mom,
Yes, we can do hard things! This week was great. Let me answer some questions first...

Where did you watch Conference Sat? Sunday?
We went to the Stake Center

Any talks that were your absolute favorites?? (soo hard to choose!!)
I loved Elder Uchtdorf's about not sleeping through the Restoration and Elder Ballard's about following up and so many others!!

How are things going with Elder Pauli? (and I'm glad that you both got our letters in the mail!)
Fantastic! We are doing really well, thank you for asking :)

Can you believe that we get to talk to you in 5 more Sundays????? SERIOUSLY SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha, is it really five Sundays?? Wow, that is coming up quick! I feel like I just talked with you guys last week!

Best meal of the week?
Best meal was probably parmesan chicken, or when we got payed for at Costco.... free pizza!! :)

Are you in need of some new ties? White shirts? Shoes??
I think I am doing good in that category, but I'll let you know if I do!

Best lesson learned this week???
Sometimes we all just need to take a break, refuel, and get pumped to go out and work again! Like watching Conference!

Do you need money? Or anything at all???
Ha, no I am doing fine! I do fine off the money that the mission gives us, so I am good!

This Conference was awesome! I loved one of the messages that we need to take something out of conference and apply it. I definitely found a lot of things that I need to do so that I can come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I enjoyed the talks given. I thought Conference had some good focuses, I guess you could say. Courage and standing up for what you believe in, and loving God and Charity stuck out to me. Really great stuff!

I am glad you had a fun conference weekend! Sounds like a blast with the Zurchers coming down! I am glad Ellie loves everyone, haha! Hope you continue to have a fun week. I am glad to be part of the Call Family! Thank you for being my mom! The best mom in the world! I love you so much! 5 more Sundays!!

Love,
Elder Call

Happy messages from a happy missionary!!!

Dear everyone,

Great week! We had some good times this week. We got paid our lunch paid for at Costco... twice actually! We had some fun exchanges! And, we got to listen to the Prophet and the Apostles speak to us! Can it get any better?? Well actually it can! Our investigator, Marla, was invited by our Ward Mission Leader, Brother Vandewal, to watch conference with them, and she loved it! Woohoo!! So it was a great week.

Also, along with that, Marla has a roommate, Cindy, who because of Brother Vandewal, wants to know more! Brother Vandewal went to pick up Marla, and ended up talking with Cindy. Well, her words were, "You aren't going to convert me!" but they had a good conversation. Well, we were at Brother Vandewals, and Cindy called him and said that after Marla came home so happy from watching Conference and the visit with them, she would like to know more about what is making her so happy. So great!! So, I'll update you on how that goes... :)

Ok, Conference... I loved the talk by Elder Bednar and his analogy of the truck and the load. I love that we never have to take anything by ourselves, but that Christ is there with us, every step of the way, strengthening us and helping us to make it! I enjoyed Elder Uchtdorf's talk about not sleeping through the Restoration. How great it is to live in a time where the fulness of the gospel has been restored to the earth. I know that when I go to the movies to watch a brand new release and it is super good I wouldn't even have the thought of sleeping!! Well, we are in the middle of a brand new release, and trust me, it is super good! So don't sleep!

I loved the focus on the basics. Family scripture reading and prayer and Family Home Evening was mentioned multiple times. I know those are things that can help any family, because it certainly helped ours! That is a good foundation for any family.

How blessed are we to have the fulness of the gospel on the earth today? It's simple just to say, "yea, I wouldn't be where I am today without it" but it is so much more! We literally have the Plan to be happy forever, and its author is someone who is perfect, without flaw. So I think it is safe to say that His plan is perfect, without flaw, as well! I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, restored to the earth today, will bless anyone in any circumstance, because it is a perfect guide made for all of God's children.

Let your soul delight in fatness!

Love,
Elder Call
