Coaldale Canada
Companion Elder Pauli
District Leader Elder Call
So folks, I'm staying in Coaldale! Ha, its kind of embarrassing, because I took pictures with everyone and told my goodbyes... Ha, but I'm staying. At least I have pictures with everyone now!
This week was good! We were able to see a bunch of less actives this week, which was great! We are seeing some of them starting to come back to church which has been fantastic! Sister Hood, the less active friend to our investigator, Marla, has been to church 4 out of the last 6 weeks, which is awesome! Ever since she introduced Marla to the gospel she has been coming back! How great is that?!
We saw Marla yesterday, and had a good lesson with her. She has a lot of concerns. She doesn't feel ready or worthy. It is hard to see the adversary work so hard against her, but I know that she can do it. She is such a great person. I know just from this last transfer that Satan is so real. But on the flip side how great is Heavenly Father? I know that we can overcome anything with Him.
Oh, story time! So I can't remember if I told you this, but Sister Boyko, Kalan's mom, got a job and now she works on Sundays. Bummer. But we were teaching them the other day about the tree of life and the iron rod, and we invited them to read their scriptures. Sister Boyko said that she would, and that Kalan would need it because they wouldn't be at church anymore. Then Kalan looked up and said, "What? I'm still going to church. I know where it is, I can just walk!" The Elder Call inside my brain was having a party! You were definitely all invited, because I was so psyched! What a great kid! Ha, well, its been like -10 and snowy all week, so we found him a ride. But he came!! Wooo!!
Oh, we also saw him shoveling snow after church so we grabbed our shovels and helped him out. While we were shoveling Kalan was telling me how he made a secret chore list, and that he was going to shovel the snow, clean the living room and the kids room, and do the dishes. Yea!! Isn't that sweet?? It is amazing to see how the gospel changes people. How amazing it has been to witness the Atonement taking place in Kalan's life, literally changing him. The gospel is so amazing.
The church is true! The gospel is so great and I wish you could all feel my excitement through this email. So for now just picture me bouncing up and down and singing with joy! Because this gospel is so great! I love you guys! Don't forget just how much our Father in Heaven loves you either. And don't forget to share your love with others, because they need it!
Love,
Elder Call
and a bit of the letter he sent to me....
1. Details on the transfer (or no transfer!) If you are transferred, where, etc...??
I'm staying!! Yesterday I didn't feel like I would stay, but this morning I just didn't feel like I was leaving. In fact I felt pretty strongly that I would be with Elder Pauli again. And that is what happened!
2. Challenge: take 10 photos this week. You can take them all on the same day even! Just take 10 photos. You won't regret it when you get home from your mission!!! :)
I definitely need to start doing that! Elder Pauli brings his camera with him, and I think I might do that too!
3. Did you know that there are only 7 more Sunday's until we get to SKYPE or TALK to you???!!!! Yay!!!
Crazy! That is super exciting! Its so close!
4.What has the weather been like there?
We got another burst of cold. Its been in the negatives all week. Just like -10 ish. Lots of snow too, but I don't mind that too much anymore.
5. Best dinner at a member's house this week?
Mexican! But nothing beats the Call's mexican food!
6. Spiritual insight, thought, or challenge for the week?
Grace. I was just reading this morning on how the Lord can strengthen us. How the Lord can help us through anything. It was neat and much needed. Elder Bednar described it pretty well. I wish I could remember the name of the talk, but I'm sure you could find it on lds.org
WE LOVE YOU ELDER CALL! The people of Canada are soooo blessed to have you!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
