Canada Day Celebrations

July 7th
Cardston Canada
Elder Madsen & Elder Call Zone Leaders

So this week we had a good Canada Day celebration! We were able to go out to Hillspring and meet a ton of people there! The town pretty much tripled in size. It was great! Some guy came up to us and gave us a ton of Canada Day stuff to hand out. That was sweet because we were able to introduce ourselves to so many people!

We have been trying some different ideas to find people to teach. This week we tried street singing. Elder Clarke gets on his guitar and Elder Gordon, Elder Madsen and I go around and hunt people down so we can sing to them. Its awesome.

Anywho, so there were these guys walking ahead of us, about 20 yards or so, and one of the Elders says we need to stop them. So I was feeling a bit of what I call, the spirit of Erin, or in other words I was feeling quite spontaneous and adventurous. So I take off running and stop and ask if they want to hear a song. And they said yes! They were visiting Cardston, so we invited them to the Temple Visitor's Center, and they said they were already planning on going! Woohoo!

We stopped another lady and we sung Nearer My God to Thee. She said the song really touched her, and that she wanted to have it recorded. So she got our number and we got hers. She wants us to come over so she can record it, and so we can share a message. It was awesome!

So, we are planning on singing to more people in the streets. We want to have a name for our little missionary street band. Any ideas?

Read Mosiah 24 this week. Its really good. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/24?lang=eng
Read verses 10 through 16 if anything!

The Church is true!

"Here are a few pics from or potluck on Sunday, I think my companion has some too. Sorry there's no faces in most of them but they are still fun pictures :) -From Sister Estrada"

I love these pictures. He looks just like his dad, out playing with the kids!
I also love the Canadian flag shade protector! So awesome!

And parts of my letter from him:
Thanks for your email mom! Thanks for the family update. Sounds like all of you are having a blast of a summer! I'm glad that you and dad came to a decision on the work up north. Glad to hear it! Thanks for sending me all the adventures you are having! That is awesome!

I'll answers some questions real quick:

So enough about US - HOW ARE YOU????
I'm alright! This week was long, but I am making it along!

Are you keeping crazy, busy there??
Its been busy! A lot of it is Zone Leader meetings and administrative stuff. I want to spend so much more time doing the fun things! Like talking to people on the street and all that :)

How is the weather?
Good! Its been nice and sunny!

How are your investigators??
We are planning on teaching Dillon today after FHE. Jonathan has been busy but we are meeting him tomorrow. Kate cancelled on us this week but hopefully we'll be able to see her soon!

How are things going with Elder Madsen?
Elder Madsen is doing really good!

Best spiritual moment?
We went singing on the street this week and we were able to talk with some people! Elder Clarke here plays the guitar, and then Elder Gordon, Elder Madsen and I sing hymns. It was fun and we definitely had some good opportunities to talk with people! One lady said the song really hit her, and that she wants us to come over so she can record it! And she said we could visit too! Woo!!

Best ah-ha / learning moment of the week?
I learned that you can either have a miserable life with momentary happiness or a happy life with a few moments of misery.

Best meal of the week?
Spudnuts! They are donuts with potatoes in them. Redneck food.

Funniest moment of the week?
We were singing on the street and the Elders saw some people 20 yards or so ahead of us, so they said we needed to catch them! So I took off running to go and contact these people. And they said yes to hearing a song! I got a kick out of it :)

How are you feeling? Seriously! No joking around here! haha, but really!
Doing well! I'm learning how to handle things and rely on Christ. I'm definitely learning!

Anything at all we can do for you???
Keep emailing me! I love it! Its good to hear from each of the family every week.

Thanks for all of your support and your love! Thanks for thinking about me and praying for me. I hope all is well for you. I love you and thank you for your great example to me. Thanks for having my back mom. I love you so much!

Love,
Elder Call
