Ice Cream Challenge

Cardston Canada
ZL with Elder Madsen (who goes home in 11 days!)

Dear World,

I've got some good stories for you this week!

So, we'll start with the spiritual goodness!
This week I was on exchanges with Elder Gordon. He had met a native and set up an appointment to meet with him. So, we went on exchanges so he could pass him off to us. Well, he was nice but said he needed some alone time, so we gave him a Book of Mormon to read, and it turns out he is a inactive member. So we told him we would come back another time.

Anywho, story isn't over. So we have some more time so we swing by our investigator's, Mike's, house. He tells us to come in, and he has brought a friend to listen to us to, and he invited his wife to come listen as well. We felt the need to teach the Plan of Salvation and had a great lesson with all of them. We talked about how the Atonement can change our lives, how God has a plan for each of us, and how change is necessary. They all committed to giving up drugs that night. They also all accepted the invitation to baptism! There hearts were so open to the message that we shared.

It was definitely a miracle! I love how when we start understanding the importance and truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we want to share it with others. And that is exactly what is happening to Mike.

But they didn't come to church!! So, if you could all pray for them that would be fantastic.

Alright, here is the next story.
So, if you know me at all you know that I love ice cream. Well, in the little town of Glenwood, Alberta, there is an ice cream shop. And they have a legendary ice cream challenge. The Glenwood Scoop. It consists of six scoops of ice cream coming to a grand total of 600 grams. That comes to a total of 1.32 lbs of ice cream. So the challenge is to eat it as fast as you can. The fastest time was 4 minutes and 17 seconds. Crazy fast right?? So, being me, I wanted to beat the record. So Elder Madsen and I, along with the Bishop and his family all went to do the Glenwood Scoop Challenge. So I take my 600 grams of ice cream and start shoveling it down my throat! I'm over halfway done when I realize its only been 2 minutes, and I might have a shot at winning. So I start going even faster! At about 3 minutes my mouth is so numb that I have to use my fingers to keep the ice cream in my mouth. And at 3 minutes and 46 seconds I finished my last bite. It was awesome!! I'm now up on the wall. Good publicity for the church right? Haha :) After that I shared 2 Nephi 9:51 with everyone. Look it up, it will all make sense.

So, there are the two highlights of my week!

The Book of Mormon is true! God loves all of you so much.

Love,
Elder Call

And some of the questions he answered for me this week:
So, how did your Walkie Talkie Augie turn out?? Did you talk to a million people? How did your Zone end up doing???
We talked to 71 thousand people! It was good. I think we got an idea of how many miracles we can see as we do so! Our zone did great. We talked to probably about 13 thousand people. They all did a great job!!

Are you starting to feel the Fall weather arrive? We're up at Alexa's this weekend and it is definitely cooler up here than at home!
Fall? What is Fall? Just winter and summer here!! Haha, it has been cooling down a bit. We've had some chilly weeks. This week has been nice and sunny though!

What are your thoughts about staying in Cardston or being transferred? Do you think you will stay or be transferred?
Its like a 98 percent chance I stay. They most likely won't boot both of us out. (Elder Madsen goes home next week!)

Do you think you and Elder Madsen will keep in touch after he goes home?
Yea I definitely think so! He, along with some of the other missionaries whom I am good friends with here, are planning on going to school in northern Utah. So I'll keep in touch with all of them!

Best spiritual moment of the week?
{see the} Big Kahuna :)

Advice for your parents?
Keep loving us. Its changed my life! I don't think I would be out here if you didn't love me the way you did. So keep loving, and always seek progression. Keep living the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Remember the small and simple things. And remember that I love you!

Hope you all have a great week. Thanks for all that you do!

Love,
Elder Call

Elder Pauli sent some photos of the day he went on splits with Elder Call. Always good to see them so happy! {And so nice that Elder P takes pics!!} Pretty sure neither of them can take a straight-faced photo! Ha!
