Transfer week!

Well, thus concludes my fourth transfer in Cardston.

And my final transfer in Cardston.

Yup, I'm being transferred! I'm going back up north! So I'll be somewhere in Calgary. I'm super excited/nervous/pumped/sad/happy! Its like starting my mission all over again! It will be weird going back up to Calgary, since I've spent the last 11 months down here in the south part of the mission. But, I am sure that it will be a blast! I've really enjoyed it here in Cardston, but its time for me to take off!

Also... Happy Canadian Turkey Day! It was Canadian Thanksgiving this week, which was awesome. I love food, but I think my stomach is going to explode. It was awesome to say the least. I'm thankful for all of you!!

As for this week, it was pretty great! I'll tell ya a quick story we had out on the reserve.

So, we were heading out to Standoff to see some investigators. We got there and I felt to go knock some doors the exact opposite direction of the way we wanted to go, but we went anyways. So we started knocking doors with no success. Then we knocked this one door and this lady leans out her window and starts talking. Well we say we are missionaries and she puts her head back inside, and it looks like she's gone. But then she came to the door and talked about how she was a member and hadn't been to church in forever. We had a good conversation about the Book of Mormon and how that can help her, and then as she said goodbye she said, "Alright I'll start making it back to church." It was awesome!!

So after that awesome experience we proceed to go to Stone's house. He's a YSA native guy. Pretty sweet. So we knock on his door and he says he has a few minutes before he needs to go. He asks some really good questions from his Book of Mormon reading, and we ended up teaching him about the Restoration of the Gospel. We tell him about Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and prayer, and he says he will be baptized when he gets an answer that it is true. He also commits to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. It was great. After we drive away we see him in his house with his head out the window a bit, reading his Book of Mormon. It was so cool!!

We had another experience the other day. I was at one of our less-actives home telling him goodbye before I got transferred, and a mom and her daughter come in the house. Well Franky, the less active, has them come sit in on the lesson, and we start talking about church and the Book of Mormon and how they can strengthen us. Apparently she had been searching for something more in her life. She agreed to have us over to be taught more about the gospel, because she wants to know if its true! So great!!

Neat to see how the Lord puts you in the right place at the right time. God loves His children!!

Love,
Elder Call

Some questions he answered for me:
How was your Canadian Thanksgiving and where did you go for your meal?
We went to the Paterson's on Sunday. He is the branch president of the YSA and is a great guy. Then we went to the Laing's on Thanksgiving. It was great! I loved it!

What was the best thing about Elder Downing this week?
Well, I don't know if I could name one thing. He reminds me a lot of Brenden. He is pretty quiet but a pretty funny and goofy guy once you get to know him. I think serving with him is exactly what it would have been like serving with Elder Truman. It is awesome!!

What was the best thing about you this week?
Oh boy. Hm... I think just that I'm having fun and I'm figuring things out. Definitely from Heavenly Father's guidance.

Tender mercies this week?
I survived two Thanksgiving dinners. I was reminded of Panorama ward and Thanksgiving last year. I was reminded of how thankful I am for two amazing parents who were patient in raising me. And I am alive!

Any advice you want to give us?
Live the gospel! Find ways to improve! And remember how much Christ loves you!

Hope that this week is a good one. Continue to look for ways to help families in our neighborhood, and ask God to know specific ways. I'm positive He will help you know if now is the time.

The Church is true! I love you so much and am so grateful for you mom!

Love,

Elder Call
